Eternal life can be yours
While we would love to have you visit one of our services, there is something even more important to us—that you know you have eternal life. Eternal life comes from having a relationship with Jesus Christ. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. I John 5:12
Why do we need a relationship with Jesus?
We all need help once in a while. We run into situations where we lack the skills or knowledge to handle a problem properly. You probably know that we are all sinners, meaning we have done wrong at some point.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23
We need help with this problem, and the Bible tells us why. The payment God requires to take care of our sins is this:
For the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:23
That is a pretty big problem! It is not because God hates us that we have to die. God is righteous and just, so He must deal with this problem and not just let it go. At the same time, God loves us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16
So, how did God solve this problem? He needed to deal with sin justly and spare us from eternal death at the same time. We saw the answer in the verse above. God sent His Son Jesus to take our place and pay for our sins.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians 5:12
God had Jesus die in our place to pay for our sins. With the sin account taken care of, one will no longer have to worry about standing before God.
…that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Ephesians 1:4
We need to pause here for a moment. It is paramount for you to understand that God is offering us a gift. To be a gift it must be absolutely free. If it has any demand attached to it is no longer a gift, because once you have completed the demand you can now require it.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
We are getting at the gift of God’s Son, which must be received as a gift; it is not an automatic payment deposited into your account. The hard part is being honest enough with yourself about your need for this gift. We can all agree that we are all sinners, so we are all pretty much just the same. We feel we are just as good as the next guy. That may be true, but you may be better than the next guy. However you are not to compare yourself to the next guy, you need to compare yourself to what God expects, He is the standard!
God’s standard is impossible to meet, and with this humble attitude, we are to come to God and cry out for help.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4:10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10: 9-11
I hope this is clear to you by the power of the Holy Spirit of God. I hope this truth is working deep within your soul. If it is not, ask God to make it clear to you. If this is clear and you want this gift, simply receive it by believing Him. If you believe it, then cry out to God to ask and receive it with a prayer like this.
Dear Jesus,
I know that I have sinned and failed to be perfect. I know that this sin must be dealt with. I believe you paid for my sins, and I want to accept this gift of eternal life. I understand and accept you as the LORD of my life. Help me, in turn, to live the new life you gave me for your honor and glory. Amen.
